The body of a 39-year-old man has been discovered in the water at the Balaclava Quay of Fraserburgh Harbour.

The dead man, who has not yet been named by police, was found at about 1230 BST on Saturday.

It is believed he fell into the water and drowned while attempting to board a Polish fishing boat that was berthed at the harbour.

Grampian Police have appealed for anyone who saw the man making his way to the harbour to contact them.

He is described as being about 6ft tall, with light brown hair, and was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans.

The man was least seen alive at about midnight on Friday in Shore Street, Fraserburgh, walking in the direction of the quay.
