Version 0 of 1.

A pregnant teenage girl was murdered in a knife attack in her own home, police have said.

Sana Ali, 17, was found by her sister-in-law in an upstairs bedroom at about 1615 BST on Friday at the house in Throstle Grove, Bury.

The married teenager had been living at the house with her 24-year-old husband's family. Police believe she was two months pregnant.

She was taken to hospital by paramedics, but died later.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place on Saturday afternoon.

The police said the attack was "very, very violent".

Det Chief Insp Keith Dillon, who is leading the murder hunt, said no-one had been arrested in connection with the killing, but the teenager's close family were being questioned.

'No forced entry'

Ms Ali was of Pakistani origin and her family lived in Cheadle Hulme. The couple were married in December last year and have no children.

There were no signs of forced entry at the address, said police. The husband's parents are thought to be currently abroad on holiday.

Det Chief Insp Dillon said: "We don't know at this particular moment in time what exactly happened within that house.

"We are looking for anyone who may have seen somebody acting suspiciously or covered in bloodstained clothing."

Officers say they are keeping an open mind as to the reasons behind the killing.
