A police spokesman said the man ran through the Carriage Gates vehicle entrance into the Parliamentary estate at 2210BST on Wednesday. Sergeant Sean Glynn said: "He was immediately chased and detained within the grounds. He did not enter any sensitive part of the building." The man was taken to Charing Cross police station in London. Carriage Gates is the main vehicle entrance at the House of Commons end of the Palace of Westminster complex. Security has been stepped up at the Houses of Parliament since the September 11 attacks in the US and the bombing attacks in London on 7 July, 2005. |
