A 15-year-old boy has been treated in hospital in Belfast for burns to his legs after a firework which was placed in his pocket exploded.

George Caskey said his son Ryan will be scarred for life following the incident at Glengormley High School on Friday.

Mr Caskey said his son thought the lit firework was a mobile phone ringing.

"The firework went off and literally blasted the trousers off from his waist down to the legs and burned his sports shorts into his legs," he said.
