A police helicopter was seen over the area on Sunday morning. People living nearby reported hearing shouting and two loud bangs.
Speaking on the BBC Politics Show, Home Secretary John Reid said: "We are trying to confirm the details.

Tony Robinson, a newsagent's relief manager, said: "I looked out of the window and there were armed police swarming all over the place."
Mr Robinson said the road was a normal, suburban street, with a mix of terraced, semi-detached and detached homes.
Jan Almark, whose husband runs a building yard near the scene, said the shooting took place in a flat development.
"My husband was going to work this morning but the police stopped him at the end of the road and said he couldn't go through," she said.
