The Year Eight pupil suffered a suspected fractured skull at Bodmin College at 1300 BST on Tuesday. | |
He is in a stable condition at Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. A 12-year-old boy was arrested and bailed until 2 July. | |
The incident came amid claims by some parents of bullying at the school while others called it safe and friendly. | |

One parent, who has a daughter at the college, said: "My daughter has been regularly verbally abused and harassed in her first year at the college. | |
"We have also had a meeting with the head teacher and my daughter was told to get a thicker skin." | |
The school responded: "The school takes all incidents of bullying very seriously indeed and has a clear anti-bullying policy which is followed by staff and students. | |
"Bodmin College is a very large school with 1,500 students and takes its duty of care very seriously. | |
"Staff work closely with parents and carers to resolve issues, however some issues can be harder to resolve to the satisfaction of all parties. | |
The college said in an earlier statement: "This is a very upsetting situation for all concerned and our thoughts and best wishes are with the family and friends of the injured student." | |
