Version 0 of 1.

The father of the Western Isles schoolgirl Misbah Rana has been granted temporary custody of her for a further three weeks.

A court in Pakistan granted the extension order to Sajad Ahmed Rana.

His 12-year-old daughter, know also as Molly Campbell, was reported missing from her Scottish home by her mother and legal guardian, Louise Campbell.

The youngster said she travelled willingly to Lahore. The case will return to court in eight days time.

Mr Rana was granted the extension in order to give time for his lawyer to reply to Campbell's objections.

Passport surrendered

The judge repeated his earlier direction that Misbah should not be brought to court unless called, and her father was the only relative to attend Saturday's proceedings.

Ms Campbell has also filed a case of illegal custody against her ex-husband and elder daughter, Tehmina, in the Lahore High Court, which is expected to hear the case on 9 October.

The court had earlier ruled that Misbah's passport be surrendered until the case was settled.

Pakistan and Britain signed an agreement in 2003 under which police and judicial authorities in both countries help each other resolve some 400 cases of disputes over children brought from Britain to Pakistan every year.
