Version 0 of 1.

A man has died after he was beaten up and his car hijacked near Dublin Airport in the Republic of Ireland.

The 28-year-old man, from Eastern Europe, was in a car parked in a lay-by at Forest Road, when a gang approached and dragged him out, early on Monday.

They beat him and he died a few hours later in hospital. The Irish police said the severity of the attack suggested some kind of weapon was used.

A woman, who was also in the car at the time, was unhurt.

The car was later found abandoned in Coolock, Dublin.

The scene has been cordoned off for technical examination and a post mortem examination will be carried out later.
