The funerals have taken place for a family of four who were found dead in County Wexford earlier this week.

The bodies of Ciara Dunne, her husband Adrian, their daughters, Leanne, five, and Shania, three, were found at their home in Monagear on Monday.

Ciara was buried with her daughters in her home town of Burt, County Donegal.

Adrian was buried in Wexford. Liverpool FC anthem You'll Never Walk Alone was played in church, as he requested to an undertaker days before their deaths.

A black Liverpool flag and yellow away jersey were draped over his coffin as it was lifted into St Cormac's Church in the village of Boolavogue.

Adrian and Ciara Dunne with Leanne and ShaniaAs his funeral was taking place, more than 200 miles away in County Donegal, the bodies of his wife and two daughters were being brought to St Aengus's Church in Burt.

A guard of honour was provided by children from a local school, and hundreds of mourners packed the church.

Safety concerns

Results from post mortem examinations will not be released until the results of toxicology tests are analysed.

Following her death, it emerged that Ciara's parents had concerns for her safety.

Gardai broke into the house in the Moine Rua housing estate on Monday and found the bodies of the two girls and Mrs Dunne in the sitting room.

The body of Mr Dunne, who was blind, was found in the hallway.

Police would only confirm that the children did not have significant injuries.

The Irish government has announced an independent investigation into the circumstances leading to the deaths.
