Rescue helicopters from Wattisham and Belgium were launched before the search was called off due to failing light. A coastguard spokesman said; "It seems she submerged to complete decompression and never surfaced again."
A fixed wing counter-pollution aircraft from the Netherlands was also asked to assist. The woman started her final dive on Sunday afternoon and was reported missing shortly afterwards.
British and Belgian coastguard teams have been searching the area since that time.
