A city park has been closed after a man was stabbed.

West Midlands Police said Handsworth Park in Birmingham would be closed while they investigated an incident of disorder.

During the incident a man, thought to be in his 60s, was stabbed three times. The park was hosting a Vaisakhi event, part of Sikh new year celebrations.

Hundreds of Sikhs were expected to join the procession from the High Street in Smethwick to the park.
