Detectives say the woman, found on the Cimla to Baglan Road, which is known as Bwlch Road, is thought to have died between midnight and 0215 BST. The road was cordoned off and a Home Office pathologist was at the scene. More than 30 detectives are working on the investigation. Police are continuing to question a 28-year-old man on suspicion of murder. An incident room has been set up at Port Talbot Police station. The woman's body was discovered in an area of Neath called the Bwlch and officers are appealing for information that could help their inquiry. Steeping up patrols Det Ch Insp Stuart McKenzie said: "The incident happened in a remote area of the Bwlch, if there was anyone in the area at the time I urge them to contact the incident room, they may have information that is vital to the enquiry." Police are also stepping up patrols in the Neath Port Talbot area following the discovery. This later murder investigation follows the death of a former soldier whose body was found in a lane in neaby Port Talbot a fortnight ago. A man and a youth have been remanded in custody charged with the murder of Wayne Oglesby, 30. Supt Cliff Filer, divisional commander for the area, said: "This is the second murder investigation launched by South Wales Police in the area in recent weeks. "The deaths are in no way related and I would like to stresss that incidences of this nature remain a rare occurrence in the Neath and Port Talbot area." Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 01639 889127 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. |
