She said: "The lack of affordable homes is the number one concern of a whole generation of young, working people and families in Scotland.
"If we don't act now to sort it out, the effect on today's twenty and thirty-somethings - and their families - could be catastrophic."
Lib Dem election director Tavish Scott said his party would double the funding available to help first time buyers and those on low incomes.
The party is also committed to building 27,000 new affordable homes and to community land trusts to meet local housing needs.
