Version 0 of 1.

Detectives hunting an attacker who sexually assaulted an asylum seeker in Glasgow have recovered DNA.

The Algerian woman was walking with her baby in the Yoker area when she was attacked at the beginning of April.

Muslim community members have already offered a £10,000 reward to catch whoever carried out the attack.

Strathclyde Police said forensics experts were checking the sample found on items belonging to the mother against the national database.

Officers were also questioning a number of people filmed on local CCTV cameras who have identified groups of young men seen in the area around the time of the daylight assault earlier this month.

Throwing stones

The 33-year-old woman was targeted as she took her one-year-old son out in his pram on 3 April.

They were on a cycle path between Plean Street and Dyke Road when a group of at least four white males threw stones at them.

One man then exposed himself and sexually assaulted the woman before assaulting her son and attempting to perform an indecent act on the child.

The woman's pram and headscarf were later recovered.

The main suspect is described as being a tall and thin white male, aged 20 to 25, with very short hair.

Strathclyde Police have urged the friends the attacker to come forward and identify him.
