Man charged over girl abduction

A man has been charged with the abduction and rape of a nine-year-old girl in a graveyard in East Yorkshire.

The girl, who cannot be named, was dragged from her bike in Sewerby Heads, Bridlington, on the evening of 2 April.

She was taken to the cemetery in Sewerby Road where she was later found crying by a friend.

Robert Douglas Zipfel, 29, of Bempton Crescent, will appear before Bridlington magistrates on Thursday charged with rape and assault.

He is also charged with taking a child so as to remove them from a person having lawful control.
