Japanese car giant Honda is set to announce a major expansion at its Swindon plant, according to a report. Japanese car giant Honda is creating an extra 700 jobs at its Swindon plant, taking the workforce to 4,900.
Production will rise from 190,000 to 250,000 a year creating "hundreds" of new jobs, the Sun newspaper said. Production will rise from 190,000 cars this year to 250,000 in 2007 - as a result of demand for the new Civic five-door and three-door models.
The announcement is set to be made at the Paris Motor Show, a gathering of the leading motor manufacturers. A new Honda CV-R, to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, will also be made at the site.
It would come on the back of earlier announcements by BMW to boost production of the new Mini at Oxford and from Nissan to expand Sunderland. The news follows earlier announcements by BMW and Nissan to boost production at Oxford and Sunderland respectively.
