However, a spokesperson for Sinn Fein said they did not believe there was any republican involvement and said the incident was "clearly part of" an ongoing feud in the area.
"Nobody with any knowledge of this situation or indeed and understanding of the current republican position could possibly come to that conclusion (that the IRA was involved)," the spokesperson said.
