Drew's uncle, Gary Lenigan, said he had been the victim of a vicious assault. "One of them ran up with a big brick or something - I don't know what it was - and just threw it - that was what did the damage to my face.
"Drew left the house in the early hours of this morning and walked over to the garage - from Glencairn to the Antrim Road all-night garage," he said. "Then I just remember about five or 10 minutes - it going on for - and the police just came round."
"From what we have been led to believe by him and the police this morning they tripped him up with some sort of walking stick or stick coming out of the garage.
"They trailed him round the side and then proceeded to beat him about the face and head, and then drop some sort of brick or breeze-block on his face."
