The funeral of Sally Clark, a mother wrongly convicted and jailed for killing two babies, has taken place.

Mrs Clark, who lived in Chelmsford, Essex, was laid to rest at a church near her parents' home in Wiltshire.

The solicitor was jailed for life for the murders of her two sons and served three years before her convictions were quashed on appeal in 2003.

Her family said she never recovered fully from the ordeal. She was found dead at her home on Friday 16 March.

The ceremony was attended only by relatives and close friends.

"Sally's family deeply appreciates the hundreds of messages and donations and hopes that everyone will understand that to acknowledge every one is just not possible," said a statement released by Clark family spokesman Sue Stapely.

A fund has been set up in Mrs Clark's memory for the work of Professor Tim David, a consultant paediatrician at the new Manchester Children's' Hospital.

Prof David was one of the specialist paediatricians who gave evidence for the defence in Mrs Clark's case.
