Two men have been found guilty of killing a basketball player on his doorstep in Essex.

Frank Empson, 19, was stabbed by Steven Pascoe, 24, and Jack Harrison, 19, when he answered the door of his home in Arkwrights, Harlow, in March 2006.

Pascoe and Harrison were convicted of manslaughter and attempted robbery, but acquitted of murder, following a six week trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Mr Empson was targeted after the pair learnt he kept cannabis in his bedroom.

Harrison and Pascoe were both convicted of manslaughter

At the time of his death, Mr Empson was studying sports science at Ware College in Hertfordshire and hoped to go to the US to pursue his interest in basketball.

He was stabbed four times in the attack and suffered a knife wound to his neck.

His girlfriend was also punched to the ground in the attack.

Pascoe, of Parsonage Leys, Harlow, and Harrison, of Hare Street, Harlow, were both remanded in custody.

They will be sentenced at a later date.
