Scottish Conservative leader Annabel Goldie will launch her party's manifesto later.

Ms Goldie will pledge that her party will spend an additional £1bn to defeat drugs and cut crime.

She called it the "the biggest assault on crime and drugs ever seen in Scotland" and said it was long overdue.

Ms Goldie added: "No party will concentrate more on the issues that really matter to the Scottish people than the Scottish Conservatives."

She said that the choice at the 3 May Holyrood election was a stark one, between what she called isolation and devolution.

Ms Goldie said: "The Scottish Conservatives were totally committed to devolution and making it work far better for Scotland.

"I firmly believe that if the Scottish people see that devolution is delivering for the country then the calls for independence and isolation will recede.

"And I want to be absolutely clear with the Scottish people about what the Scottish Conservatives are offering at this election.

"Ours is an innovative, bold and uncompromising programme.

"At its core, is our pledge to the Scottish people to defeat drugs and cut crime - an ambitious and tough challenge, but one that must be relentlessly pursued in a way that has never been done by any party, at any time, in Scotland. We will do this."
