Bus stop row man stabbed to death

A man has been stabbed to death in an argument at a bus stop in east London.

The victim, aged in his 20s, was waiting for a bus with a friend when he was attacked in Chapel Road, Ilford, in the early hours of Saturday.

The suspect ran off into Clements Road then into Winston Way. He is described as being black, also aged in his 20s, and tall and slim.

Police said the victim was taken to King George Hospital but died later and have appealed for witnesses.

Exchange of words

The victim had just got off a bus in Ilford with his friend and they were waiting at another stop when he was stabbed.

As the attacker escaped he bumped into a couple outside the Cineworld multiplex and exchanged words with them.

Det Ch Insp John Macdonald has urged the pair to come forward.

He described them as light-skinned, and the girl had long dark hair and was wearing a blue dress with knee-length dark boots.

The man was taller with shorter dark hair and was wearing a long-sleeved dark top and blue jeans.
