Three deadly bombs have killed more than 40 people and injured more than 80 in the mainly Shia town of Khalis, north of Baghdad, reports say. At least 60 people have been killed and 25 injured in what Iraqi police think may have been a double suicide bombing in a Shia district of Baghdad.
Police said at least one was a car bomb, with explosions at several locations across the town. The attack occurred at a popular market in the north-eastern al-Shaab district at about 1830 (1530GMT).
The attack came despite a major security operation in the city aimed at reducing the level of violence.
Earlier, three bombings killed more than 40 and injured 80 others in the Shia town of Khalis, north of Baghdad.
