A couple and a woman have had to be moved from their homes in Dungannon due to a fire which damaged four houses.

The fire, in the Windmill Drive area of the town, was reported shortly before 0330 GMT on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in Limavady a number of people were moved and two treated in hospital for smoke inhalation after an arson attack in Ballyclose Street.

Three bins were discovered on fire in a covered walkway near several ground floor flats at about 0245 GMT.

Smoke damage was caused to the flats. Detectives investigating the incident are examining CCTV footage, police said.

The fire in Dungannon is believed to have started in an unoccupied house. It was badly damaged.

Less serious damage was caused to three adjoining houses, one of which was also unoccupied. The cause of the fire is being investigated.

Police are treating it as suspicious and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
