Version 0 of 1.

A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) report into a cable car accident near Fort William has found the system operators responsible.

Five people were injured, one seriously, when a gondola slid down the cable and collided with another car at the Nevis Range ski centre last summer.

The Health and Safety Executive findings have been sent to the procurator fiscal.

The centre said it would not comment at this stage.

A decision is due to be taken on whether the centre should face charges.

Operator error

The most seriously injured man was thrown 30ft to the ground from one of the gondola cars.

Representatives of the cable car manufacturers, Austrian firm Dopplemeyer, inspected the system following the crash and claimed it was the result of operator error.

The report from the HSE suggests that the company was responsible for the accident and it will now be up to the procurator fiscal to decide whether it should face charges.

A spokeswoman at Nevis Range said it was aware the report had been sent but because it had not been made aware of the contents there would be no comment at this time.
