Teenager 'traumatised after rape'

A man has been arrested after a teenage girl was allegedly raped in Newry in County Down.

It happened in the St Christopher's Park area, which is close to the Quays Shopping centre, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The teenager was treated for cuts and bruising.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "She has since been released from hospital, but has been left extremely traumatised by the attack."

She added: "Inquiries are continuing and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them at Newry."
