A fire at a family home in which a three-year-old boy died in the early hours is being treated as suspicious, police have said. A fire at a Northamptonshire family home in which a three-year-old boy died is being treated as suspicious.

When fire crews arrived, the fire had almost destroyed the house. It is understood the child's body is still in the house while it is made safe. Luke Hodson, of Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service, said four people had managed to get themselves out before the emergency services arrived.
Roof collapsed
He said: "At that point we knew there was another person in the property.
"During the rescue attempt the roof collapsed and the firefighters couldn't access the property because of the holes in the floor."
John Russell, who lives next door to the family, said he was woken by the sound of screaming and the flames from the house next door.
He said: "I did hear somebody say 'climb out the bedroom window'. The child must have climbed out on to the roof."
He added: "It was horrendous. You couldn't see anything but flames gushing out of both windows."

Forensic searches of the home are continuing and a post-mortem examination will be carried out on the boy.
