The 45-year-old officer, with Strathclyde Police, was detained after an incident in Glasgow on Saturday. Graham Stuart Smith, 45, was arrested after an alleged sexual assault at a home in Glasgow on Saturday.
He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, following the alleged incident at a house in Hyndburn. The police officer is accused of carrying out the attack while at a property in the Hyndland area in the west end of the city.
A police spokeswoman said: "A 45-year-old man is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged indecency." The serving officer with Strathclyde Police made no plea or declaration during his appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court and was granted bail.
