Scotland is bracing itself for several days of snow and gale force winds. Scotland is bracing itself for heavy and frequent wintry showers as high winds also batter the country.
Blizzard conditions are expected across the country on Sunday and Monday, with the north being the worst affected. The icy blast could affect much of Scotland with strong winds gusting up to 70mph causing problems for drivers.
Up to 15cm of snow is predicted to settle in the Highlands on Sunday morning, with winds of up to 80mph also creating white-out conditions. The Forth Road Bridge, Skye Bridge, Kessock Bridge and Tay Road Bridge are closed to high sided vehicles and the A9 is experiencing severe winds.
Forecasters said it could be the worst weather so far this winter and warned of dangerous driving conditions and possible damage to power lines. It has been warned blizzard conditions could hit on Sunday and Monday, with the north being the worst affected.
The higher ground north of Perth will be badly affected, along with exposed bridges such as the Skye Bridge and the Kessock crossing near Inverness.
