The 12-year-old was arrested in Rugeley, Staffordshire, and will be questioned at Cannock police station.

Head teacher Jenny Dodd said her 17 pupils suffered bruising and she was relieved that the injuries were not more serious.
She said: "To begin with I don't think any of the children realised what was happening because I think they were so insignificant, being tiny pellets and mostly plastic."
Staffordshire Police said on Thursday they were looking for other boys in connection with the incident.

Ch Insp Juliet Prince said the incident highlighted the dangers of children having access to BB guns and air weapons and urged people to hand them in at police stations. Police said they had also recovered a number of BB guns in the area.
