Version 0 of 1.

Detectives are hunting a murderer who stabbed a care worker and her female patient to death in a Southampton flat.

Officers found the care worker dead in the hallway and the other woman in a bedroom in a ground floor flat in Townhill Park on Thursday evening.

It is thought the care worker's council employers and her husband reported her missing, because she failed to keep appointments or return home.

The husband found his wife's car outside the Meggeson Avenue flat.

On Friday, police were continuing to view CCTV footage taken from a block of flats, where the two women were discovered at 1720 GMT.

Forensic experts are currently examining the flat.

Searching for clues

A post-mortem examination into the cause of the deaths is due to be held.

The block of 10 flats was evacuated as the investigation got under way, and residents of the block were moved into temporary accommodation.

The area remains cordoned off while scenes of crime officers search for clues.

Police are also making house-to-house inquiries.
