Reports say that the gunman wounded five people, four tourists and a policeman, before he was overcome and detained by security forces. Five other tourists were injured, before the gunman was arrested.
The nationality of the tourists caught up in the incident is not yet known. Militants have carried out a series of attacks in Jordan. Sixty people were killed in three suicide attacks on hotels in November 2005.
