Rival groups have clashed in north Belfast, with petrol bombs, stones and bottles thrown.

A police vehicle also came under attack in the Ardoyne Road area, although there were no reports of injuries.

North Belfast priest Father Aidan Troy said: "There has been unease in this area for a few weeks, but that does not justify anything.

"I worked with others to try and ensure that whoever was on the streets went home and stopped persecuting people."

It is understood the trouble began shortly after 2030 GMT on Monday.
