Murder charge over man found shot

A 29-year-old man from Sheffield has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man found shot in Halifax.

Mian Shahid Mehmood, 29, was found lying on Great Edge Road, Warley, Halifax, on 11 February. He died later at Calderdale Royal Infirmary.

He had moved to the UK a year ago from Pakistan to be with his 23-year-old wife Yasmin.

Sam Lee, of no fixed address, appeared before Calderdale magistrates on Saturday and was remanded in custody.

The case was adjourned to 16 March at Bradford Crown Court.
