Arsonists caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when they broke into a primary school in Greater Manchester.

Police and fire crews were called to the blaze at Briscoe Lane Primary School in Newton Heath on Friday night.

Investigations revealed that the fire, which broke out at around 2000 GMT, was started deliberately.

Detectives appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who saw anything suspicious to get in touch with them.
