Version 0 of 1.

Conservative MP Sir Patrick Cormack - ousted as the parliamentary candidate by his local party executive - will have the chance to be reinstated.

The veteran MP failed to be readopted for his South Staffordshire seat last month by one vote, but the process has now been declared invalid.

More votes were cast than members attending, and some members did not know the vote was taking place.

Sir Patrick has now asked for a postal vote to be held of the 40-50 members.

He has been an MP for the area since 1970 and gained the support of 80 Conservative MPs who believed his ousting was an "irreparable blow".
