A man was killed and two others were injured when a bull twice went on the rampage at a farm.

Paramedics were called to the farm in Stoke Prior in Herefordshire after a man in his 50s suffered a head wound.

The bull then attacked two more men aged in their 60s later on Thursday. Police had to shoot the animal before paramedics could reach the injured.

Retired builder Mike Daw, 68, suffered fatal injuries. Another man suffered serious leg and chest injuries.

The injured man was flown to Hereford County Hospital.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.

West Mercia Police said the bull was loose in the farm yard when emergency crews were called for a second time.

An officer discharged a round from a shotgun enabling paramedics to get to the two victims.

A police tactical firearms unit arrived a short time later and the bull was destroyed.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "At one point, we were just four yards from the animal as we dragged one of the injured over 40 yards to safety.

"We also managed to get to the other casualty. Unfortunately, the man had sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing we could do for him."
