Mrs Allan was a serving police officer with Fife Constabulary.

In a statement, members of Mrs Allan's family described her as an intelligent, caring and friendly person and she was praised by the police force.

The family said: "Kirsty was a loving daughter, granddaughter, wife and mother.

'Well liked'

"She was married to William and had a three-year-old son, Cameron. She was an intelligent, caring and friendly person who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends."

Her divisional superintendent, Martin Birrell, said: "Kirsty was a young officer, having only just completed two years' service.

"She was well liked by her colleagues and the enthusiasm with which she approached her job was clear for all to see. She will be sadly missed and our thoughts go out to her family and friends."

Investigators have been at the scene in Grange Road in a bid to find out how the fatal road collision happened. Traffic diversions have been set up.
