Version 0 of 1.

A gang of armed men has attacked a house near Belfast city centre.

Four people were upstairs in the house in Eliza Street Terrace in the Markets area when two women called at the door at about 2340 GMT on Sunday.

They were followed by a group of 10 to 12 men carrying bats and sticks who went into the house.

Windows and garden ornaments were broken and several downstairs rooms were ransacked in the attack. Police are trying to establish a motive.

No injuries were reported.

It is believed that a blue Ford Ka car, with 'R' plates, a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a gold Renault Clio may have been used by the attackers.

One of the women is described as being about 25, slim, less than 5ft 2ins tall with dark-coloured hair tied back.

The second was described as being older than 25, slim, less than 5ft 2ins tall, red hair and a brown check jacket.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
