Young cyclist killed in accident Family tribute to bike death teen

A 15-year-old cyclist has died after his bike was involved in a collision with a car in the Highlands. The father of a 15-year-old cyclist who died when his bike was involved in a collision with a car has paid tribute to his "sports fanatic" son.
The accident happened on the A96 Elgin to Inverness road, east of Nairn, at about 2215 GMT on Saturday. Daniel Burgess, who attended Nairn Academy, died following the accident on the A96 Elgin to Inverness road, near Nairn, on Saturday.
Northern Constabulary, who have appealed for witnesses, have not yet released the name of the teenager. His father Andy said: "Daniel was a happy and lively young sports fanatic.
"He liked nothing better than spending every possible moment on the golf courses of Nairn or football pitches."
Mr Burgess said his family had moved to the area from Stonehaven.
He said Daniel, who played for Nairn County's youth team, would be "sorely missed" by friends and family including his mother Liz, and brothers Sean, 13, and Andrew, 11.
"We are very grateful for the support we have received," he said.
Witness appeal
Northern Constabulary have appealed for witnesses to the accident which happened at the junction with Sandown Farm Lane at about 2215 GMT on Saturday.
