Version 0 of 1.

Ex-Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has gone on a walkabout in Belfast in support of the Alliance candidates in the assembly elections.

He said the better Alliance fares in the 7 March poll, the better will be any post-election settlement.

Mr Kennedy said the onus was on all the parties across the spectrum to engage seriously in the election process.

He said what other parties chose to do once votes were cast was a matter for them.

Alliance leader David Ford said: "It's great to have Charles Kennedy with us today.

"I am very pleased that he is with us on the campaign trail promoting Alliance as the only alternative to tribal politics.

"The only way that stable and genuine power-sharing can be secured is by having a strong Alliance team at the heart of government."
