Consumer groups said the government and energy suppliers needed to do more to reduce fuel poverty among vulnerable groups.
"We have commended British Gas on being the first to drop their prices this year but we still believe there is a lot to be done before all vulnerable and elderly people can afford to keep themselves warm," said William Gillis, chief executive of energy efficiency charity National Energy Action.
