Journalist Karl McLoughlin said the killing happened on the day that Mr Traynor arrived with friends for a holiday on the island.
"By his own admission, he spent the entire day drinking at his hotel and various nightspots nearby," Mr McLoughlin said.
"It was when he was leaving one of those nightspots in the early hours of the morning that he was approached by a 23-year-old black woman.
"He and the lady went to his hotel to collect some money. Then they found a secluded spot on the Los Coccinos beach nearby.
"It was in court yesterday that it emerged for the first time that an argument had broken out over the fee payable.
"The Nigerian woman apparently raised the fee. Mr Traynor refused. A fight ensured. He said he did strike her several times but he did not kill her."
