Drivers on one of Scotland's busiest roads are facing major delays after an emergency road closure triggered by an unsafe power pylon. An unsafe electricity pylon that caused a section of one of Scotland's busiest motorways to close has been secured by Scottish Power engineers.
The M74 motorway - to the south east of Glasgow - is closed north and southbound between Junction 1 Fullerton and Junction 4 Maryville. The M74 motorway - to the south east of Glasgow - reopened north and southbound between Junction 1 Fullerton and Junction 4 Maryville.
Scottish Power said engineers had to take immediate action. During the morning rush hour, drivers faced long delays while engineers repaired cables.
Power to the pylon has been switched off and work to remove cables is expected to last all day. Scottish Power apologised for the inconvenience to commuters.
