A male has died after an apparent late-night knife fight in Melbourne’s west. A man has died after he was ambushed and stabbed during a late-night knife fight at a park in Melbourne’s west.

One male, who is yet to be formally identified, was located with a stab wound. A 24-year-old from the same suburb was found with a stab wound and received medical treatment but died at the scene.

He received medical treatment but died at the scene. Two other 27-year-old men were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two other males were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Det Insp Paul Lloyd said 12 men in four white cars pulled up at the park where a group of seven other men had gathered.
Four males were arrested nearby and are assisting police with their inquiries. “[It was] instantaneous. They jumped out and ran and started this altercation,” he told reporters.
“It certainly appeared it was targeted. The way that they turned up, and [have] just gone straight to it.”
A 24-year-old Manor Lakes man and three Wyndham Vale men – two 26-year-olds and a 28-year-old – were arrested nearby and will be interviewed by investigators on Saturday.
All four were part of the original group gathered at the park while the men’s attackers remain on the run.
Police have cordoned off the area and a crime scene remains in place.
