Heavy rain leaves parts of the South East flooded Yalding flooded as River Medway levels rise

A number of areas across Sussex, Surrey and Kent remain affected by flooding after heavy rain over the weekend. Some properties in Yalding in Kent are expected to flood as river levels continue to rise following heavy rain over the weekend.

However, as of 09:50 more than 160 flood warnings remained in place across England meaning flooding is expected. Over a dozen of these are in Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Two flood warnings issued for the Yalding area remain in place due to rising river levels on the River Medway, River Teise and the River Beult.
The Environment Agency has also issued 299 flood alerts nationwide, meaning flooding is possible. As of 12:50 on Monday more than 170 flood warnings were in place across England, meaning flooding is to be expected.

Flood warnings remain in place across East and West Sussex, external for the Western Rother at Lodsbridge and Fittleworth, Mock Bridge on the River Adur, Barcombe Mills on the River Ouse and Alfriston on the River Cuckmere. Flood warnings, external are in place for the River Medway between Yalding and Maidstone, and the Little Venice Country Park and Marina.
The Cuckmere and Bull rivers are high but levels are now falling in Hellingly. Flooding is likely to affect Alfriston until Tuesday. Just before 08:00 on Monday the Environment Agency warned that rising river levels were expected to cause flooding, with riverside properties in Wateringbury and East Farleigh most at risk.
As of 09:00 on Monday the water levels in the River Ouse were still very high albeit slowly falling following Sunday's rain. As of 06:35 river levels were continuing to rise on the River Medway, River Teise and the River Beult because of prolonged rainfall. Flooding of some properties in Yalding was expected from 09:00 on Monday, the Environment Agency said.
Flooding will continue to be extensive across surrounding fields, with Barcombe Mills Road and Anchor Lane likely to be impassable.
Flood alerts are still in force in a number of places including Climping Seafront, and both the Lower and Upper Arun. The Little Venice Country Park and Marina has been flagged as an area of risk by the Environment Agency
Flooding is affecting the A29 at Pulborough. Flood water is affecting gardens and properties on Lower Street and Swan Corner near Swan Bridge. The Environment Agency has advised property owners with flood resilience measures to deploy them. Flooding is expected at Little Venice, The Tatt and Acott Fields.
In East Sussex flood alerts remain, external in place along the River Brede and the River Tillingham. River levels are expected to peak in the early afternoon on Monday.
Surrey Flood alerts - meaning flooding is possible - are in place along the River Medway and on the River Eden and its tributary Eden Brook.
Flood warnings remain in place in Surrey, external for the River Mole, both at Brockham and Pixham, and at Leatherhead and Fetcham.
River levels at Brockham have now peaked. Low lying land and roads remain affected, particularly around Old School Lane and Reigate Road.
River levels have also peaked and stabilised at Leatherhead. Properties on Thorncroft Drive, Wallis Mews and Fetcham Grove are most at risk.
Flooding is expected to continue in both areas until Monday afternoon, with weather conditions expected to start improving on Tuesday afternoon.
A flood warning for River Wey at Elstead and Eashing states that flooding of property and roads is expected on Monday, especially in the Tilford and Passfield Mill areas.
The flood warning for Lingfield remains in place as river levels remain high, although they are starting to recede. Areas most at risk include properties around Lingfield Common Road and the Ray Brook.
Flood alerts remain in force in various places, including the Upper and Lower River Wey and Cranleigh Waters.
Kent
In Kent flood warnings, external are in place for the River Medway between Yalding and Maidstone, and the Little Venice Country Park and Marina.
Flooding is expected to affect the River Medway on Monday morning, while flooding of some properties in Yalding is also expected.
A number of flood alerts are in place across the surrounding area, including along the River Medway and on the River Eden and its tributary Eden Brook.
