Tributes have been paid to widow Ada Mason, from Upton, who died in her sleep on Tuesday. Mrs Mason, who had outlived all of her five children, put her long life down to eating bread and dripping "with lots of salt on". Her granddaughter Janet Howse said she was a "real remarkable lady" who was known to everyone as "gran". Mrs Howse added: "Everybody loved her. She was very happy, you never heard her moan. "She put her long life down to eating bread and dripping every day - lots of it with lots of salt on. "Even when she had the last year of her life in the nursing home that's what they gave her every day. She loved that." Mrs Mason's late husband John was a miner. They married in 1914 and lived together in Upton until his death in 1962. |
