Two men have been arrested by police investigating an alleged kidnap plot involving a business at the Yorkgate complex in north Belfast. Police say that they have foiled an attempted kidnap and robbery at the Yorkgate complex in north Belfast.
One man was arrested in a car in the New Lodge area. Another man made off on foot but was arrested a short time later at a house in Ludlow Square. Officers rammed a car as part of an operation which involved dozens of police. A large sum of money was recovered during the operation.
Police recovered a substantial sum of money. Both men are being held under suspicion of kidnapping and robbery. It is believed that post office staff were the intended targets of an alleged plan to use hostages to force a worker to take money.
A police spokesman said there are no reports of any injuries. Three men are being held on suspicion of kidnapping and robbery.
The police operation began on Monday evening.
