Police Scotland Sergeant Neill Drummond said the force was "still working to establish the full circumstances of what happened at this property", but the cause of the explosion was still unknown. Rosie Adamson, who lives near the property, said she "felt sick" thinking about the incident.
Ms Adamson said: "I was just sitting watching TV and I heard this almighty explosion and I thought, 'oh my god what’s happened?'"
"It was horrible, I was on edge all night."
Ms Adamson said the emergency services were "so quick" to respond to the incident.
She said: “I wasn’t sure what had happened, I just saw the flames, it was frightening.
"I could see the police putting tape up so cars couldn’t get by."
Ms Adamson said she was "still shaking" seeing the aftermath of the explosion.
She said: “I don’t know the person but my thoughts are with their family. You just don’t think it’s going to happen in your wee town, it was unbelievable.
“When I came out this morning I really didn’t want to see what I was going to see. I can’t stop thinking about the guy who died, and his family."
