(1 day later) | |
A family has spoken of their "living nightmare" since the disappearance of their son 11 days ago.
Iain Nicholson, 21, from Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, was last seen at 0100 GMT on Friday, 2 February, when he left a nightclub in Glasgow city centre.
His mother Linda, 50, said: "It has been very difficult, very upsetting and like a living nightmare. I wonder if he is still alive."
Mrs Nicholson revealed that Iain was due to travel to Australia in April.
It is thought he walked into Gordon Street, on his own, after leaving his sister Fiona, 20, and friends at Karbon nightclub off Buchanan Street.
You've got to remain positive, maybe he's met someone, a girl, or left for a job - I know he is alive Donald Nicholson
Mrs Nicholson, speaking exclusively to BBC Scotland, said her son was a very friendly person, quite sociable and hard-working.
"I wonder where he is, if he's okay, if he is still alive, if he will walk through the door.
"I hope he has met someone and gone away, I hope he's not hurt or in hospital.
"I just need to know he is all right."
Mrs Nicholson, a child minder, said that at times she feared the worst.
"It is very difficult not to think unpleasant thoughts," she added.
'Out of character' | |
Mr Nicholson's father, a civil servant, last saw his son when he left for a night out at about 2000 GMT on Thursday 1 February.
Donald Nicholson, 50, said: "He was happy-go-lucky and didn't appear to have any worries , just a normal 21-year-old.
"We just want a phone call or someone to say they have seen him.

"Iain has never been missing before and has never given any indication that anything was bothering him in any way, so to disappear without even a phone call home, is completely out of character," he said.
