Search for missing man steps up Mother's missing son 'nightmare'

Police have intensified their search for a 21-year-old man who disappeared after a night out 10 days ago. A family has spoken of their "living nightmare" since the disappearance of their son 11 days ago.

The sales assistant failed to return to his home in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, and his family and police are extremely concerned. His mother Linda, 50, said: "It has been very difficult, very upsetting and like a living nightmare. I wonder if he is still alive."
A picture of Nr Nicholson is now to be shown on 10 plasma TV screens in city shopping centres and transport hubs. Mrs Nicholson revealed that Iain was due to travel to Australia in April.
It is thought he walked into Gordon Street, on his own, after leaving his sister Fiona, 20, and friends at Karbon nightclub off Buchanan Street.

Mrs Nicholson, speaking exclusively to BBC Scotland, said her son was a very friendly person, quite sociable and hard-working.
"I wonder where he is, if he's okay, if he is still alive, if he will walk through the door.
"I hope he has met someone and gone away, I hope he's not hurt or in hospital.
"I just need to know he is all right."
Mrs Nicholson, a child minder, said that at times she feared the worst.
"It is very difficult not to think unpleasant thoughts," she added.
'Out of character'
Mr Nicholson's father, a civil servant, last saw his son when he left for a night out at about 2000 GMT on Thursday 1 February.
Donald Nicholson, 50, said: "He was happy-go-lucky and didn't appear to have any worries , just a normal 21-year-old.
"We just want a phone call or someone to say they have seen him.
"You've got to remain positive, maybe he's met someone, a girl, or left for a job."

Mr and Mrs Nicholson dismissed claims that their son may have gone to Newcastle.
The 21-year-old has his own Bebo website and messages of support have been posted from his online friends and contacts.

"Iain has never been missing before and has never given any indication that anything was bothering him in any way, so to disappear without even a phone call home, is completely out of character," he said.

He was wearing a silver dog-tag necklace, white shirt with light brown stripes, a white t-shirt, jeans, brown loafers and an SOS bracelet indicating an allergy to penicillin.
